Applicants for Georgia Certification

Applicants for Georgia certification who have attended colleges or universities outside the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia must provide the GaPSC with a foreign credential report which includes English translations and information showing detailed, course-by-course evaluations and appropriate U.S. degree equivalency. Translations alone, or incomplete provisional evaluations based on unofficial copies of documentation will not be accepted.

Please note: With the exception of Puerto Rico, coursework or degrees completed in U.S. territories, possessions, or commonwealths such as the U.S. Virgin Islands must be documented on a foreign credential report in order to ensure that the applicant receives full and accurate credit.

If the courses/degrees earned outside the U.S. are unrelated to the Georgia certificate being requested and a subsequent degree has been received from a GaPSC-accepted accredited U.S. college or university, submission of the foreign credential report is optional, but encouraged.

The foreign credential report MUST be an independent review prepared by an agency approved by the GaPSC. These agencies are private enterprises that charge a fee for their services and that expense is the responsibility of the applicant. The following agencies in alphabetical order are GaPSC-approved and equally acceptable. Reports from any other agency will NOT be accepted.

Foreign credential reports must be emailed directly by the provider to mail@gapsc.com, or delivered through a secure portal the company may provide. Reports uploaded through MyPSC or Expresslane will not be accepted. Note that mail@gapsc.com is for document delivery only. For questions, you may Contact Certification.

Foreign Credential Report Provider Approval

Should you represent a foreign credential report provider seeking to become GaPSC-approved, please review the following requirements that must be met to ensure our partners are held to the highest standard while maintaining policies that closely mirror our own:

• National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) membership.
• Position which maintains 3-year bachelor’s degrees completed abroad under the Bologna Agreement to be equal to 3 years of U.S. post-baccalaureate study, and therefore not equivalent to 4-year U.S. bachelor’s degrees.
• Evaluations based on original documentation in lieu of photocopies unless original documents are deemed unobtainable due to extraneous circumstances in the country of origin.
• Translations of original documentation performed in-house, or by certified translators only.
• Grade point average equivalency calculations included in evaluations.
