The GaPSC is committed to supporting active duty spouses and easing the transition into Georgia for those who have completed a state-approved
educator preparation program, hold professional certification in another state, or who are looking to transition into a career in education and
have not completed a program.
Certificates for those who have completed a certification program:
Induction Certificate
– For military members/spouses who completed a traditional Georgia or out-of-state educator preparation program yet have not accrued 3 years of
acceptable educator experience. A 1-Year Induction certificate is available upon employment and at the request of a Georgia local unit of
administration (LUA), allowing time to pass the content assessment. More information on the requirements for

Standard Professional
– For military members/spouses who
hold a professional certificate in another state and have a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in that state. A 1-Year
Professional certificate is available upon employment and at the request of a Georgia LUA, allowing time to pass any outstanding content

For those who have not completed a certification program:
Military Support Provisional Certificate
– For active duty military spouses who are looking to transition into a career in education.
To ease the burdens of transitioning between states, the GaPSC offers a Military Support Provisional certificate. This certificate will allow
eligible individuals to teach for up to three years while completing requirements for professional Georgia certification. Employment is
required for issuance. Please contact any Georgia employing Local Units of Administration (LUA) for information on their employment practices
in regards to this certificate. Issuance requirements for the Military Support Provisional Certificate are as follows:
INITIAL ISSUANCE:
- Meet minimum degree requirement for certification field sought
- Complete the
GACE Educator Ethics assessment
- Become employed as a Georgia educator and have the certificate requested by the employing Georgia Local Unit of
Administration (LUA)
- Provide Copy of Spouse’s Enlistment Contract, most recent Statement of Service, military transfer papers, or reserve contract
- Provide Marriage certificate confirming marriage to a military member
YEAR 2 ISSUANCE:
YEAR 3 ISSUANCE:
- Have the certificate requested by a Georgia LUA
CONVERSION OF THE MILITARY SUPPORT PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATE:
- Complete a state-approved educator preparation program to include special Georgia requirements
- If applicable, complete any outstanding industry testing/licensure requirements for Career and Technical Specializations or
the field of Healthcare Science
