What is the School Safety and Anti-Gang Endorsement?

The School Safety and Anti-Gang Endorsement was established by the Safe Schools Act (HB 147) for school personnel to help keep schools safe and prevent gang activity and recruitment in classrooms.

The Safe Schools Act (HB 147) focuses on keeping Georgia’s students, teachers, and school personnel safe. The legislation modernizes school safety protocols by equipping school personnel with skills to protect students.

The School Safety and Anti-Gang Endorsement gives certificate holders strengthened and enhanced competency levels in multidisciplinary best practices for promoting and preserving safe schools and for identifying and deterring youth gangs.

To meet the requirements of the Safe Schools Act (HB 147), the Georgia Professional Standard Commission collaborated with 3 agencies to coordinate, plan, develop, and implement training and procedures for the Safe Schools Act and School Safety and Anti-Gang endorsement: For easier access to the SSAG information, please review this SSAG Overview Guidance.

Who Can Obtain the Endorsement?

The Endorsement can only be obtained by GAPSC-certified/licensed Educators. However, ALL school personnel are encouraged to participate in the training sessions. Non-Certified/Licensed Educators or School personnel will receive a SSAG Completion Certificate.

SSAG’s Training Information

School Safety and Anti-Gang Endorsement Information Session

The School Safety and Anti-Gang Endorsement was established by the Safe Schools Act (HB 147) for school personnel to help keep schools safe and prevent gang activity and recruitment in classrooms.

Come join Kamaria and Melina as they introduce the new School Safety and Anti-Gang endorsement.

This session will cover the creation of the endorsement, the endorsement's training requirements, who qualifies for the endorsement, as well as how to add the endorsement.

This 2-day workshop provides 9 of the 20 required training for the Safety Endorsement. Participants must attend both full days. Open to non-members.

Chattahoochee Flint RESA - SSAG In-Person Trainings

10:30-11:30 - Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE)
Incidents involving active shooters have become all too familiar. Through this training we will identify a true active shooter, examine the history of active shooter incidents and discuss the possible responses to various active shooter situations. We will also explore pro-active steps that can be taken to possibly reduce the likelihood of an incident occurring.
Lunch 11:30-12:30 (On your Own)
12:30-1:30 Visual Weapons Screening
This course discusses concealment techniques and the indicators that a person may be carrying a weapon. It also discusses different screening techniques, how to apply those techniques, and what procedures should be followed if a weapon is suspected. Laws concerning weapons in school are also examined in this course.
1:30-2:30 - Stop the Bleed
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. This course is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help
