Preparation - Submit Rejoinder

The head of the professional education unit, in consultation with the chief executive officer of the institution/agency, is required to acknowledge receipt of the BOE on-site approval review report and is given the opportunity to comment on it in a written rejoinder. Two copies of the institutional rejoinder must be submitted to the PSC within 30 days of receipt of the BOE report. When BOE reports are sent to an institution/agency during semester breaks, additional time to prepare the rejoinder may be allowed. Additional time beyond the date indicated in the PSC's transmittal letter must be approved by the PSC.
The purpose of the rejoinder is to clarify information and to correct any factual errors presented in the BOE report. If the judgements of the BOE are being contested by the professional education unit, the rejoinder must indicate the grounds for such a stance and the available documentation to support it. The information should be summarized, cited, and included in an appendix as appropriate. The rejoinder should be concise, to the point, and complete.
It is strongly recommended that the unit respond to all unmet standards and other weaknesses cited in the BOE report. If the professional education unit agrees that the cited weakness is correct, the rejoinder should acknowledge this fact.
The following conditions must be adhered to as the rejoinder is prepared by the professional education unit:
  • All evidence must describe what existed at the time of the on-site approval review. Changes made by the professional education unit after the on-site review cannot be considered by the PSC in its deliberations regarding professional education unit approval. Changes after the on-site review should be reported to the PSC as part of the professional education unit's annual report.
  • All evidence must relate directly to the standards and procedures that applied at the time of the on-site review.
  • The rejoinder must be factual in nature. All inaccurate information in the BOE report should be corrected and appropriate documentation submitted with the rejoinder.
  • When the unit does not respond to unmet standards and weaknesses in the team report, it will be assumed that the unit concurs with the team's citation and decision.
