Educator Licensure Assessment in Georgia

About GACE®

As of September 1, 2006, the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators™ (GACE™) is the educator licensure assessment in Georgia (see "Speech and Language Pathology" exception below). The purpose of the GACE is to help the GaPSC ensure that candidates have the knowledge and skills needed to perform the job of an educator in Georgia's public schools.

All GACE™ assessments are aligned with the state standards for the P-12 curriculum, which are the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), and with state and national content standards. Each GACE test was developed with diverse representation of Georgia educators from across the state, including the participation of individuals from school systems, local schools, institutions of higher education (public and private), and other stakeholders. In other words, each GACE™ was developed by Georgia educators to measure minimal competency on what is taught in Georgia's P-12 classrooms. The GaPSC and the testing company, the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson (ES), are very appreciative of the efforts of these Georgia educators.

  • For information about registration, test dates and sites, rules of test participation, etc., of the GACE™ program, access www.gace.nesinc.com.

Trade and Industrial

Georgia has reinstated the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) exams for seven certification areas.

Individuals seeking vocational certification in one of these seven fields may choose the NOCTI option as outlined in rule 505-2-.096.

In vocational fields where there is no test or industry license, two years of full-time occupational experience in the field in which the applicant is seeking non-renewable certification are required.
