The Advancing Teacher Quality in Georgia Conference was held at the Porter Center in Dublin, Georgia on March 2, 2006, and attended by approximately 250 school system personnel. The response received from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive.

Establishing HOUSSE Credentials - COMING SOON Presenter(s): - Ron Busby, Assistant Superintendent Houston County Schools The presenter shared an excellent process for establishing HOUSSE credential developed by the Houston County School System.	Needs Assessment and Planning Presenter(s): - Karen Connelly and Charlene Jones, Directors of Professional Learning Chatham County Schools The presentation describes Savannah/Chatham County Schools' process for conducting the Annual Needs Assessment and developing the Title II-A Plan.
Operating the HiQ Program Presenter(s): - Chuck McCampbell, Computer Services Director, PSC The presenter demonstrated how to operate and maneuver the HiQ program using scenarios involving special education teachers.	Successfully Implementing Title II-A Presenter(s): - Carolyn Hand, Personnel Director, and Betty Graper, Title II-A, Dougherty County Schools The presentation discussed how to organize Title II-A, use HiQ, open lines of communication for all parties involved, use HOUSSE and the rubric, communicate the expectations for regular and special education teachers, and access and benefit from support resources.

Forsyth County School's Plan for Special Education Teachers Presenter(s): - Candy Norton, Chief Human Resources Officer, Mary Harwell, Associate Superintendent, and, Sharon Purdie, Director of Special Education, Forysyth County Schools The presenter shared the Forsyth County Schools 2005-2006 Plan for Teachers of Special Education Students to become certified and Highly Qualified.	Linking HiQ and IDEA Presenter(s): - Rhonda Thompson, Special Education Director, Cobb County Schools The presenter discussed Cobb County Schools process for dealing with NCLB, integrating the law with other laws, and managing issues dealing with "highly qualified" teachers.
New Coordinator's Training Presenter(s): - Elizabeth Zipperer, Title II-A Consultant, PSC This session provided an overview of Title II-A requirements and resources provided by the PSC to assist new coordinators.	HOUSSE, Certification, and Special Education - COMING SOON Presenter(s): - Angie Davis, Title II-A Consultant, PSC Participants will review HOUSSE requirements and the unique connection to certification for special education teachers .

Use of Title II-A Funds Presenter(s): - Skipper Stewart, Title II-A Consultant, PSC This session will review all areas in which local school systems may use Title II-A funds.
