    The Advancing Teacher Quality in Georgia Conference was held at the Porter Center in Dublin, Georgia on March 2, 2006, and attended by approximately 250 school system personnel. The response received from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive.

The presenter shared an excellent process for establishing HOUSSE credential developed by the Houston County School System.

Needs Assessment and Planning

The presentation describes Savannah/Chatham County Schools' process for conducting the Annual Needs Assessment and developing the Title II-A Plan.

 
Operating the HiQ Program

The presenter demonstrated how to operate and maneuver the HiQ program using scenarios involving special education teachers.

The presentation discussed how to organize Title II-A, use HiQ, open lines of communication for all parties involved, use HOUSSE and the rubric, communicate the expectations for regular and special education teachers, and access and benefit from support resources.

The presenter discussed Cobb County Schools process for dealing with NCLB, integrating the law with other laws, and managing issues dealing with "highly qualified" teachers.

New Coordinator's Training
