The GaPSC, contracting with the Georgia Department of Education, provides technical assistance and monitoring services to school systems and schools in helping to assure teacher quality. In addition to monitoring and documenting the progress of all Georgia school systems related to Title II, Part A, the GaPSC’s technical assistance includes, in part, helping systems to interpret the purpose and use of Title II, Part A funding; providing feedback to systems on plan descriptors, budgets, and amendments; working with systems to assess the impact of funds on teacher quality; making recommendations for improvement related to equity and teacher quality; and developing and implementing statewide strategies and activities that complement and support systems’ activities and needs. As part of the GaPSC’s Title II, Part A state activities, a Charter School Task Force with diverse representation has been formed to assist school systems and charter schools in attaining 100% highly qualified status.
