International Educators

If you have completed an educator preparation program in a U.S. territory or another country, you may qualify for a Georgia educator certificate. It is important to note that you may have to fulfill some Special Georgia Requirements before receiving your Georgia certificate, or within a certain period of time after receiving your first certificate.

Please feel free to peruse the Special Georgia Requirements in order to determine what outstanding requirements you might face. However, if you have completed an educator preparation program and you submit a complete application package for Georgia certification, the GaPSC will evaluate your documents and outline any outstanding requirements you may need to fulfill.

You must be employed by a Georgia local unit of administration (LUA) at the time that you apply for your first Georgia certificate in order to be eligible for full certification. However, if you meet all requirements except for employment, you will be issued a Certificate of Eligibility which may be converted to an educator certificate upon employment.

How to Apply
When you are ready to apply, please submit the following items to our office: Once your complete application package is received, the Certification Division staff will evaluate it. If you are eligible for a Georgia certificate, it will be issued electronically through your MyPSC account. If further information is needed or you have outstanding requirements, correspondence will be issued electronically through the same account. In either case, you will receive an email alerting you to the presence of a new document in your account. Complete applications are processed in the order they are received. After you submit your application package, you may monitor our progress through submitted applications on our home page.
