Preparation  Educator Testing

PRAXIS II PASSING SCORES WILL INCREASE ON JULY 1, 2002.

Praxis II passing scores for selected tests will increase on July 1, 2000. Passing Scores will increase again on July 1, 2002. Praxis II has been used for certification testing since July 1, 1997. Prior to implementing Praxis, Georgia educators who were experts in each field, selected, validated and set standards (passing scores) for all of the tests that Georgia requires. At that time, PSC decided to “phase in” passing scores by starting with lower scores than would be required for some tests. “Phasing in” scores was designed to give colleges and universities ample time to prepare their students for the high standards that had been set. “Phasing in” scores also allowed individuals who would be taking the tests, ample time to prepare for the high standards. Below is a copy of the Phase-In Chart outlining the scores that will be required as of July 1, 2000 and 2002.
