The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is an independent nonprofit organization which is not affiliated with the GaPSC. It was formed to advance the quality of teaching and learning by developing professional standards for accomplished teaching, creating a voluntary system to certify teachers who meet those standards and integrating Board-certified teachers into educational reform efforts. An educator who holds a valid National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certificate in the same field as their Georgia certificate may exempt the standard professional learning requirements for renewal. Please click here for more information on renewal requirements.
