Performance-based Assessments

Georgia Teacher Leadership Assessment

The GACE Teacher Leadership Performance-based Assessment assesses the critical leadership roles that teachers play in contributing to student and school success. It measures leadership roles in six areas: adult learning and collaborative culture, research for the improvement of practice, professional learning, observation and use of assessment data, collaboration with families and community, and collaborative teams and advocacy. The assessment must be attempted within one year after program completion of a state-approved Teacher Leadership educator preparation program and must be passed within that time frame to receive a Professional Teacher Leadership certificate.

Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL)

The Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL) assesses the critical roles of educational leaders in contributing to student and school success. The assessment consists of three tasks, each of which takes place during clinical experience and focuses on addressing a problem/challenge, developing continuous professional development, and building a collaborative culture. For those who do not currently hold a Tier II Educational Leadership performance-based certificate, the PASL must be attempted prior to completion of a GaPSC state-approved Tier II performance-based program and passed for Tier II performance-based certification. For more information, see About the PASL.

  • PASL is not required for those completing the obsolete Building and System Level programs, or those coming from out-of-state with leadership certification.
